Kawasan Falls – Moalboal, Philippines

Our last day of our trip to Moalboal was visiting Kawasan Falls with our new friend Sharon. Sara met her while I was out diving. I ended up meeting Jose on a dive. Sharon traveled with us, Jose met us later in the afternoon. Getting to the falls was simple. We decided to take the public bus out to Badian which was less than 2$ versus getting ripped off by a tuk-tuk or cab. Lately we have been taking more public transportation because of the cost and avoiding the constant bartering and negotiation that is required to take cabs.

The trip to the falls was under 2 hours and there is a bit of a hike once we got into the park. There are multiple levels of waterfalls. I hiked ahead to check them out. The first waterfall is quite large, and very crowded. We were not having that. The second was farther up the mountain and hardly anyone was there, just a few locals. I hiked ahead and we ended up swimming in two smaller waterfalls first and then made our way back down the where the locals were.

We swam a lot, got pounded by the waterfall, enjoyed the rope swing, climbed, and jumped off the cliffs. The water is nice and cold and very blue as it is filtered through the limestone riverbed. I recommend the trip out if you are near Moalboal.
